Twelve “Middle Grant” Upper Valley towns will be turning 250 in 2011. Tuning up for their 250th Anniversary will be the communities of Canaan, Enfield, Fairlee, Hanover, Hartford, Hartland, Lebanon, Lyme, Norwich, Plainfield, Thetford and Windsor. The highlight of the 2011 celebration will occur over the July 4th weekend with parades, fireworks, lots of food and local concerts. There will also be lots of opportunities in 2011 for lectures, dances, workshops and ,just in time for the warm weather, a series of new outdoor area exploration adventures created by Valley Quest, a program of Vital Communities. The “SuperQuest” will include clues that lead to a spot in each of the twelve towns. Those who complete the entire “Super Quest” will be rewarded with a special commemorative patch. What a wonderful way to explore the Upper Valley and learn more about the towns and their history. Visit the Valley News website for “Turning 250″ to learn the latest on the Upper Valley towns celebrating their 250th anniversaries this year. Thousands will come into the Upper Valley to take part in the celebrations so make your plans early to stay at Breakfast on the Connecticut and enjoy the festivities.
